About Us
-
WE ATTRACT FUTURE TALENT
By offering students a hands-on learning experience and the chance to prove themselves in a competitive setting, we attract future talent to the fields of drone technology and aerial mobility.
-
WE FOSTER DRONE & eVTOL INNOVATION
Our rules are designed to provide a safe competition while attracting new and sustainable technologies, making us the perfect test bed for innovation in the UAV-sector
-
WE ARE THE FUTURE OF SPORTS
Advancements in technology have only recently made UAV racing possible. eVTOL racing will be the next big step in the history of motorsports. We aim to be at the forefront of this futuristic sport
Our Current Team
Since 2025, Student AirRace has been integrated into EUROAVIA Munich, the local chapter of the European Association of Aerospace Students. While remaining a legally independent association, the event is now organized and managed by the EUROAVIA Munich board. This allows us to benefit from the chapter’s organizational structure, experience, and international network – ensuring a strong foundation for future races and an even greater reach across Europe.
Former Team
Student AirRace was founded by a team of voluntary students from the Technical University of Munich in cooperation with industry experts.
The original Student AirRace team laid the foundation for everything the project is today. With vision and dedication, they developed the initial idea, created and refined the competition’s technical and sporting regulations, built early prototypes, and actively promoted the concept within academic, industrial, and student communities.
Their pioneering work not only shaped the identity of Student AirRace but also made it possible for the project to grow into a recognized and ambitious student-led competition. Their contribution continues to inspire the current team and serves as the basis for everything that follows.
Procedure
Timeline coming soon!
First Competition is set to take place between October 13-19 2025 in southern Germany.

We are flying in the A3 class defined by the EASA. This means our UAVs are officially drones with a weight of less than 25kg and don’t need certification or a SORA approval. This makes it very easy for teams to get started. Yet in order to craft a safe competition we will have very strict design and safety regulations which will be comparable the SORA SAIL III.
-
The aircrafts will be Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (so called UAVs) weighing less than 25k and a size of roughly 2mx2m and a fixed propeller configuration.

UAV racing has been a very popular sport for some time now. Currently there are even manufacturers working on manned eVTOL racing leagues. We calculated that a drone built according to our regulations will have a topspeed of 180kph and acceleration of four times gravity.
